Michael Starr, Founder and CEO of Think Self Protection, has applied his diverse background in psychology, education, sales and marketing, military and martial arts training into the development of a Self Protection program and philosophy that is the unique essence of his company. He and his team train executives, business and community leaders in his customized, highly effective personal defense program; which results in an excelled level of expertise in a very short time frame.

As a marketing, sales and education specialist for a well known Surgical Corporation; teacher of psychology at NOVA University; and VP/ General Manager for two mid size companies, Michael’s desire to interact with and educate people has been a constant thread through out his career.

As a "Recon" Marine, Michael’s natural leadership ability and mentoring skills became apparent. He was a "Recon" Company Leader, training men in hand-to-hand unarmed combat
and special tactics as well as underwater reconnaissance, demolition and small arms instruction.

Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree incorporating a triple major in Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy from The University of Charleston.

As a life long Martial Artist, Michael was recently inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame; an organization that since 1976, has honored the men and women who have made a difference in education, training and protection of our greatest natural resource, our children. Honored as the "Self Defense Instructor of the Year", Michael is a teacher who has made a contribution to "the everyman" and the greater good of our society. He is an active member of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce, Vistage International and ExecuLeaders. Michael donates his time with pro-bono work for the Boy Scouts, Coalition Against Child Abuse and the Have A Heart Children’s Cancer Charity.
